Borough Teaches Lessons

Lincoln Elementary students and teachers recently toured some of Pottstown's assets.

Pottstown School District’s Lincoln Elementary second graders and their teachers -- Jill Bolonski, Heather Kurtz and Leslie Swartz -- recently took a field trip to learn more about the borough.

The group started the daylong event at Pottstown Regional Public Library where youth director Leslie Stillings showed them resources for kids including books, computers and the Pottstown Library’s Youth Room, the district's director of community relations John J. Armato said via email.

The students also walked down High Street and learned of the town's historical architecture.

The trip also included a visit to the Gallery On High Art School where they learned about various forms of art. The students had hands-on experiences including a lesson on weaving wool into yarn to make scarves and blankets, learned of the ancient art of origami and used golf balls dipped in paint to create a freestyle artistic design.
