Eastern PA HS Among Most Expensive Schools In America: Report

Tuition costs $5,000 less at the University of Pennsylvania.

POTTSTOWN, PA — An eastern Pennsylvania high school is among the priciest in the entire nation, according to a new report.

One year's tuition at the Hill School, in Pottstown, will set you back $61,410, according to personal finance website GoBankingRates.com.

For some perspective, the annual cost of a private high school averages $16,040 in the United States, according to the Education Data Initiative.

In state tuition for college students, meanwhile, is similar. Penn State students will pay $17,900 this year. Even Ivy League tuition falls short of the Hill School: while the University of Pennsylvania also charges assorted fees, baseline tuition is $56,212, a staggering than $5,000 less.

"The Hill School is an independent boarding and day school for students in grades 9-12. This small community focus on academic excellence with a liberal arts bent. At the top of GoBankingRate's priciest high schools is The Lawrenceville School, and the race is not even close. Tuition at the Lawrenceville, New Jersey school is $73,220, over $3,200 above Kent's ticket price.
