Electrified Lesson Coming to Pottstown Library

Children can learn about electricity and physical science during a special program at the this summer.

Science in the Summer, sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline and administered by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, will partner with the library to teach kids about magnetic force fields, static electricity and other topics. 

Students will also use an electrostatic generator, make a compass and electromagnet. 

Nicole Galvin is an account executive for Philadelphia-based Harris, Baio & McCullough, a communications agency that designed GSK’s website for the Summer in the Science program, according to HB&M’s website.

“Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, GlaxoSmithKline’s Science in the Summer is a free and fun program available at participating libraries,” Galvin said via email on Monday.

The course will be taught by certified teachers to groups of 15 students and offered in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties for children entering second through sixth grades, she said.
