French, Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust To Host Hoedown
The Homegrown Harvest Supper And Hoedown will be held Aug. 6.

Area residents and guests are invited to celebrate summer’s bounty at the French and Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust’s Homegrown Harvest Supper and Hoedown from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 6 (rain date Aug. 7) at Marshlands in the Great Marsh off Rt. 401 in East Nantmeal Township.
Cost: Adults $25; children under 12 free.

The evening will feature local foods, including seasonal dishes by local chefs, kids’ relay games, square dancing and live music by local musicians Dave Weber and Ted the Fiddler, as well as an opportunity to meet the people who grow and make many of our region’s foods.
Families are encouraged to come at 3:30 for early bird fun: fishing, swimming, canoeing, guided marsh walk and historic farmhouse tour. Registration for pre-supper activities is $10 for adults, $5 for children.

Trust board member Jim Moore and his wife Joan are making Marshlands, a 550-acre property, available for the supper. The property features a swamp and marsh habitats that are home to more than 200 species of flowering plants and 155 species of birds, including threatened and endangered species.
The event features a raffle with prizes including a local food and gift certificate basket; dinner for two at three area restaurants; kayak; locally raised Angus beef; and cooking lessons for five. Raffle tickets are available at http://frenchandpickering.org
