Kayaking Classes And Tours Planned
The Schuylkill River Heritage Area and HRO Adventures created a new Pottstown paddling center that over the next several months will offer kayaking classes and other events.

• Pedal and Paddle, offered on June 25, took participants on a guided 4.5-mile bike ride along the Schuylkill River Trail and return kayaking trip. Because the event was popular, additional Pedal and Paddle dates were added to accommodate demand on July 16 and August 20. Those dates also filled up. To be placed on a waiting list for future events, call 484-945-0200.
• Intro to Kayaking will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 9. Students will be introduced to various paddling strokes and in-depth lessons on gear and clothing needed for a comfortable day on the water. Rescue techniques will also be demonstrated. Students must bring their own kayaks and life vests. Cost is $90
• Quick Start Your Kayak from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 27. This class will familiarize students with equipment, potential hazards, simple rescues and paddling techniques. It is particularly helpful for anyone considering purchasing a kayak. Cost is $50.
