Montco DA to Run for Common Pleas Judge
Risa Vetri Ferman was the county's first female district attorney.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman announced Tuesday that she will not seek a third term, looking instead to the bench.
Ferman will run for a seat on the Common Pleas Court bench, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
First Deputy District Attorney Kevin Steele then announced that he will run to replace her, the Inquirer said.

Ferman, who was the county’s first female district attorney, was elected in 2007, The Times Herald said.
Ferman is not stepping down, choosing instead to campaign while on the job, The Times Herald said.

Ferman is a lifelong Abington resident, the Inquirer said. She received her law degree from Widener University in 1992 and joined the District Attorney’s Office in 1993.
