From colonial crafts to life expectancy: News briefs from in and around Pottstown.
• Pottsgrove Manor -- from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 11 - 15 -- will host a new, week-long history day camp for children entering grades four - six. The event will include pastimes of colonial kids, crafts and skills of the 18th century. Cost is $100 per child. Registration deadline is June 27. Call 610-326-4014 to register or for more information. The manor is located at 100 West King Street near the intersection of King Street and Route 100 off Route 422 in Pottstown.
• Montgomery County Community College is working on phase II of the Riverfront Academic and Heritage Center at 140 College Drive in Pottstown. The project will transform the former PECO building into a state-of-the-art educational center.
• The Washington Post recently published an article that lists life expectancy for men and women in various areas of the U.S. According to the story, life expectancy in Montgomery County is 77.7 years for men and 82 years for women.

• Pottstown Borough will host a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. July 15 at Borough Hall, 100 East High Street. The event is sponsored by Miller Keystone Blood Center.
• Citizens for Pottstown's Revitalization meets at 7 p.m. the 3rd Friday of June, August, October and December at the Police Athletic Building, 146 King Street. The Pottstown Police attend the meeting and can address neighborhood concerns. To learn more, visit www.cpr.comatosegroup.com.
