October Snow Woes

While final preparations are being made to Halloween costumes across Pottstown, red, yellow and brown leaves fall in a flurry of snow. 

No, you're not in a Tim Burton movie.

6 p.m.  that about 42,000 people are without power in Montgomery County.

4:45 p.m. Many roads are covered with slippery leaves frozen into a slushy ice cocktail. Tree limbs continue to fall fast and hard. Many traffic lights are out across the area. Don't drive if you can avoid it.

3 p.m. The weight of the wet snow resting on tree leaves is causing branches to break in numerous parts of our readership area. This is causing widespread road obstructions and power outages. 

2:05 p.m. First Energy reports nearly 28,000 customers without power in the Boyertown, Douglassville, Gilbertsville and surrounding areas. Outages in Pottstown are estimated at 2,511.

1:45 p.m. Report of a two-vehicle accident at Charlotte and Chestnut streets in Pottstown. Medic 329-8 is on location, reporting entrapment and multiple injuries, requesting Rescue 69 and an additional EMS unit to the scene.

1:36 p.m. Pottstown's WBZH 1370 AM reports most of the Pottsgrove area is without power.

1:24 p.m. Outside electrical fires reported in Pottstown at Jefferson Avenue and N. Evans Street; and Keim and Morris streets.

1:23 p.m. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning until 2 a.m. Sunday.

1:17 p.m. Report of a building fire at Howard and Elm streets in West Pottsgrove Township.

1:03 p.m. Fire police called to Berks Street in West Pottsgrove Township.

1 p.m. Parts of Berks County are without power.

12:45 p.m. Fire police called to Walnut and N. Adams streets in Pottstown.

12:55 p.m. Report of a road obstruction at Keim Street and Yerger Road in Lower Pottsgrove Township.

12:21 p.m. Report of a road obstruction at Hanover Drive and Windsor Court in Upper Pottsgrove Township.
