Montgomery Commissioners make authority appointments (wfmz.com) — Pottstown residents should know Mayor Stephanie Henrick has been reappointed to the Schuylkill River Passenger Rail Authority, keeping the borough at the table for future rail service decisions. At a light Montgomery County Commissioners meeting, officials also filled conservation district seats, approved language access services, adjusted an employee benefits contract, and renewed a prisoner extradition agreement.
   

2. New Upper Pottsgrove board drops two lawsuits, previous solicitor (pottsmerc.com subscription) — Upper Pottsgrove’s new Democrat-led board has replaced its solicitor, dropped two costly lawsuits, and rescinded a resolution that concentrated power in the board president, moves that affect how nearby Pottstown-area residents’ tax dollars and township projects are handled. One lawsuit over a proposed $9 million municipal complex on Gilbertsville Road remains unresolved as the new solicitor reviews the case.
   

3. Tractor-trailer driver charged in fatal Route 309 crash appeared to be sleeping, investigation finds (lehighvalleynews.com) — A Pottstown tractor-trailer driver is facing misdemeanor reckless driving and endangerment charges after a fatal Route 309 crash in Coopersburg, though investigators say the pedestrian’s dark clothing and midblock crossing were also factors. Authorities found the driver appeared to have his eyes closed until impact, but concluded there wasn’t enough evidence for more serious charges.
   

4. NRC OKs I&C upgrade for Limerick (ans.org) — A major digital upgrade has been approved for the Limerick nuclear plant’s control systems, directly affecting the Pottstown-based reactors that supply around-the-clock, carbon‑free power to the region. The $167 million project, part of a larger Pennsylvania investment, will roll out during upcoming refueling outages to modernize safety systems and improve reliability without interrupting operations.
   

5. NY Firefighter, Army Vet Seriously Injured By Wrong-Way PA Driver Who Died On NJ Turnpike (dailyvoice.com) — A Pottstown man driving a pickup was killed in a wrong-way crash on the New Jersey Turnpike that seriously injured a New York firefighter who now faces multiple surgeries and unpaid recovery time. Investigators haven’t yet said why the Pottstown driver was going the wrong way, but a fundraiser is helping the injured firefighter cover expenses.
