Pottstown Man Accused Of Shooting Driver In Head Will Stand Trial For Murder

POTTSTOWN, PA — A Pottstown man who is accused of fatally shooting a driver outside of his home after the motorist reportedly sped by and almost hit him will have to answer to murder charges in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.

Gerald Scott Ramos, 44, of North Evans Street, was held for court recently on charges of first-degree murder, third-degree murder and possessing an instrument of crime.

Court records show that Ramos was held for court on those three charges following a preliminary hearing on Jan. 6 before Magisterial District Judge Scott T. Palladino.

Ramos stands accused of gunning down 36-year-old Darrius Waller, also of Pottstown, on Dec. 5 just after 9:30 p.m.

Ramos reportedly told investigators that he became enraged after Waller sped past him on the street and nearly hit him.

Prosecutors say Ramos then went to his apartment to cool down but ended up retrieving a gun and went back outside and shot Waller dead.

Court records show that a formal arraignment has been scheduled for Feb. 16 in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court. A judge will set a trial date following the formal arraignment.

According to court records, Ramos is currently confined to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility given that first-degree murder defendants are not afforded bail in Pennsylvania.

Records show the case is being prosecuted by Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Thomas W. McGoldrick. Ramos is being represented by Lansdale-based attorney John Francis McCaul of Hamburg Rubin Mullin Maxwell & Lupin.
