Pottstown SD Superintendent Asks Parents To Adjust Holiday Plans

POTTSTOWN, PA — Pottstown School District Superintendent Stephen Rodriguez today asked parents to adjust their holiday plans in order to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Rodriguez cited a rise in COVID-19 positivity rate from 10.33 percent to 12.87 percent within Pottstown Borough over the last week.

"Health officials both locally and nationwide are also expecting that after the winter break, there will be another rise in cases due to holiday gatherings," he told parents on Monday afternoon.

Rodriguez said Pottstown schools will "take the preventative measure of remaining fully virtual for instruction during the first week of the new year, Jan. 4-8, 2021."

Co-Curricular programming will follow the state or county guidance for that week, he said.

"As we continue to work together to meet the challenges that have been caused by COVID-19, I will attempt to communicate with you in a timely manner that allows the opportunity for you to adjust your schedules," he added.

He encouraged parents to make adjustments, remembering that they can do good for the wider community by making the adjustments. "Please take time during this holiday break to reflect on family, friends, and the value of friendship and support that comes from the bonds of working together for the good of our community," he said.
