Bob Jones, Who Formerly Served As Pottstown Borough Manger, Dies At Age 79
Bob Jones was Pottstown Borough Manager from 1994 to 2002. He died last week in Florida.

POTTSTOWN, PA — Robert Jones, who served as borough manager for eight years, has passed away, according to his obituary and news reports.
Jones, who reportedly served as borough manager from 1994 to 2002, died in Florida at age 79 on Nov. 16. A cause of death was not provided.
According to his obituary from the Martin Funeral Home & Crematory, Jones was a U.S. Navy rear admiral who retired from service after a 31-year-career.

Jones took the job as Pottstown's borough manager after he retired from the Navy.
While in military service, Jones was commanding officer of the USS MacDonough, his obituary states. He also served on several ships during his time in the Navy, including on the USS Forrest Sherman, the USS Cromwell and the USS Trippe.

Jone had also served on the staffs of the Chief of Naval Operations and Commander of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet, and he was the commanding officer of the Subic Bay Naval Station during the overthrow of the Marcos regime and was the commanding officer of the Washington Navy Yard, the obituary states.
Jones is survived by his wife, Barbara McCall Jones, daughters Jennifer Crider and Kimberly Williams, along with his grandchildren. He had been predeceased by his wife first, Joyce Jones.
The Mercury Newspaper of Pottstown reported that in a previous interview, Jones had said that he chose to come to Pottstown following his naval retirement for a number of reasons, such as the healthcare, public schools and "beautiful architecture."
