  • 1) Reaction to Roe v. Wade Being Overturned: The story focused on local lawmakers' reactions to the Supreme Court’s decision to return the decision of when and whether a woman can get an abortion back to the states. The reactions from the Democratic lawmakers, including Gov. Tom Wolf and Governor-elect Attorney General Josh Shapiro, and the locals including U.S. Rep Chrissy Houlahan, state Reps. Mary Scanlon, Melissa Shusterman, Dan Williams, Christina Sappey came in very fast. Republican lawmakers did not respond so fast. The story also contains the view of Philadelphia Archbishop Nelson J. Perez and Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney.
  • 2) Radnor Residents Storm Meeting To Close CBD Kratom Store: About 40 residents stormed the township meeting on Feb. 14 objecting to a cannabis store opening in the township on Lancaster Avenue at the location of a Starbucks on Lancaster Avenue. The stand alone Starbucks closed in 2020. The renovations were already underway when a petition was presented to the township commissioners. The residents expressed fear that their children will have easy access to cannabis substances and other questionable substances. The renovations have ceased and the former Starbucks remains vacant.
  • 3) Golden Retriever Saves His Devon Family At Willows Park : Amanda Bernard of Devon was taking a walk with her dogs at the Willows Park in Radnor when she heard a screeching sound. A racoon bit her Jack Russell terrier, Venus. Her golden retriever, Ranger, pulled the racoon off of the terrier. Venus was treated for puncture wounds. Bernard was vaccinated for rabies. She canceled her vacation to Europe.
  • 4) Renowned Chef Jose Garces Opens First Main Line Restaurant: A restaurant crew carried a 5-foot burrito on a wooden plank as a crowd gathered outside Jose Garces’ new Mexican restaurant, Buena Onda, at 228 Radnor Chester Road.Garces is the 2009 winner of the James Beard Foundation’s prestigious “Best Chef Mid Atlantic” award. He also holds the title, “Iron Chef.” He appears regularly on the food network’s hit, “Iron Chef America.”
  • 5) Wayne Man Charged in Main Line Stabbing: A 65-year-old man is charged with stabbing his daughter’s boyfriend on Oct. 12 in a parking lot outside of Bertucci's Italian Family Restaurant along Lancaster Avenue. Nahun Montiel is awaiting trial on charges of stabbing Jorge Olan with a folding knife. He is awaiting trial in Delaware County Court, Media.
