2nd Rabid Raccoon Found In A Month: Radnor Authorities
Authorities said a raccoon found on the Skunk Hollow Trail last week tested positive for rabies. A rabid raccoon was found there last month.
RADNOR TOWNSHIP, PA — A raccoon found in Radnor Township was confirmed to be rabid, according to authorities.
A resident who was on the Skunk Hollow Trails with their dog, which was off leash, reported their dog encountered the raccoon at about noon Wednesday, March 6.
The dog ran over to the animal, picked it up in its mouth, and bit down on it, authorities said.

When police arrived, the dog was leashed and did not have the raccoon, which was taken in for testing.
Rabies test results came back positive, according to officials.

Thankfully, the dog was up-to-date on its vaccinations, had received a booster shot and is in quarantine in accordance with state guidelines.
A raccoon found on the same trails Friday, Feb. 16 also tested positive for rabies.
Radnor Township Police Department would like to remind the community to call 911 immediately in the event of a sick or injured animal sighting.
