Aqua Begins Water Pipe Upgrades In Radnor On Nov. 27

The upgrades include replacing aging water mains which will results in the improvement of water quality.

RADNOR, PA —Aqua Pennsylvania is beginning a six-month project to upgrade water quality in Radnor Township on Nov, 27, officials said. Monday,

The project involves replacing 4,900 feet of ductile iron water mains on Conestoga Road between County Line Road and South Lowrys Lane/Strathmore Drive. Roads will be closed in the work area.

A trench will be covered with a temporary blacktop at the end of each workday.

The upgrades in Radnor are part of a $2.9 million infrastructure improvement project to replace more than 34 miles of aging water mains in Delaware County in 2022 to improve service reliability for customers.

The new water main will reduce the potential for main breaks, and discolored water and improve water flow in the area, officials said.

Construction is scheduled weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. During construction, access will be provided for emergency, mail and trash service.

Residents will have access to their properties, but at times may need to enter from different directions due to changing work zones.

Following installation, the new main will be flushed, chlorinated, and tested for water quality before being placed into service. During the chlorination/testing phase, activity on the job site will be limited.

Once the water quality testing is completed, Aqua will transfer each water service and fire hydrant to the new main.

When all final connections are made to mains on side streets, the old water main will be abandoned.

Aqua will notify customers ahead of any planned water service interruptions and will provide 24-hour advance notice for any scheduled interruption greater than 30 minutes.
