Berwyn Boy Scout Donates Project to Radnor Non-Profit
Carl Deakins created a memory board and gave it Peter's Place in Radnor as part of his Eagle Scout project.

A Berwyn teenager has created a way to help local children better remember family members that have recently passed as they work through the grieving process.
Carl Deakins, a senior at the Shipley School, constructed a memory board and donated it to Peter’s Place, a Radnor-based non-profit dedicated to helping children cope with the loss of a loved one, according to Main Line Media News. The 6-foot-by-6-foot wooden board is covered in felt depicting a peaceful, meadow scene with a tree, flowers and shining sun. Young visitors to Peter’s Place can tack pictures and messages to the board as a way to grieve.
According to the report, the memory board is part of Deakins’ Eagle Scout project, a contribution that he wanted to make to an organization that helped him a few years ago. He was a guest a few years back when his father, Peter, died. He credits the organization for helping him work through the loss and move on, eventually joining the Devon 50 Boy Scout Troop.
