Blood Drive To Honor Radnor Boy's Fight With Cancer Tuesday

Wesley Jones in January celebrated the one-year anniversary of his last cancer treatment. Give blood Tuesday to commemorate his journey.

WAYNE, PA — Radnor Township residents are invited to give blood in Wayne Tuesday in honor of a local child who beat cancer.

The American Red Cross and the township are hosting a blood drive from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Radnorshire Room of the Radnor Township Building.

This drive is special, as it is being held in honor of local boy Wesley Jones's battle with leukemia.

According to township officials, Wesley's last cancer treatment was Jan. 25, 2024 after being diagnosed with cancer in 2021, just two weeks before his fourth birthday.

The young cancer survivor went through two-and-a-half years of treatment, and during his treatment was the recipient of more than 40 blood platelet transfusions.

The Jones family hopes Friday's drive can raise awareness of the need for blood donations while also having real-life impacts on people who need blood.

Officials are aiming for a goal of 50 donors in Wesley's honor this Tuesday.

Those who wish to donate blood can make an appointment online here and enter the code "wesleyjones" or call 800-RED-CROSS.

The Radnor Township Building is located at 301 Iven Ave. in Wayne.
