Christmas In Wayne Promises A Weekend Of Seasonal Fun

Don't miss Santa Claus, the Wayne Christmas tree lighting, the new Wayne Winter Ice Rink, and more this weekend in downtown Wayne.

WAYNE, PA — The Wayne Business Association is hosting a weekend of Christmas fun that includes an ice rink, vendors, music, a tree lighting, and, of course, Santa Claus.

All the fun starts Friday evening in downtown Wayne.

From 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., the heart of Wayne will feature festive family friendly activities

New this year is the Wayne Winter Ice Rink at North Wayne Avenue. Entry is $10 for a rink and game pass. The rink is open until 9 p.m.

Other festivities Friday include holiday carnival games, a fun slide, Christmas Trolley Rides on South Wayne and North Wayne avenues beginning and ending at the Radnor Middle School Bus Loop, crafts at the Radnor firehouse, and festive specials and sales at local establishments.

The Wayne Christmas Tree lighting will take place at about 7:30 p.m., with the event being hosted by 6abc Action News sports director Ducis Rodgers.

Immediately following the tree lighting, Santa Claus will make his grand arrival down North Wayne Avenue on a decorated Radnor fire truck.

Mrs. Claus, Santa's elves, and even the Grinch are expected to make appearances, too.

Then, Saturday morning will see the Radnor Memorial Library’s “Elves for Shelves” 5k & Fun Walk. See full details on the race online here.

Wayne's Annual Santa Parade will then take place at 10 a.m. along East Lancaster Avenue. The parade travels west down East Lancaster Avenue, starting at Aberdeen Avenue and concluding at North Wayne Avenue.

The sounds of the Radnor High School Marching Band will announce the start of the parade.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be riding along on a Radnor fire truck in this short and sweet procession.

Santa will be on hand in the courtyard of Wayne Presbyterian Church to meet kids and families after the parade until 11:45 a.m. Guests can take photos while sopping hot chocolate from The Vanilla Bean and snacking on cookies from D’Innoncencenzo’s Bakery.

And, the Willows Mansion Holiday Open House will be open from 10 a.m. to p.m. The open house will feature gift vendors, craft tables for children, hot chocolate, holiday music, snacks, a poinsettia sale, and more.

Sunday will feature a performance of Handel's Messiah with the Wayne Oratorio Society at the Wayne Presbyterian Church and the Wayne Art Center's 30th anniversary CraftForms exhibit.

Finally, windows all around Wayne are decorated for the friendly Windows of Wayne competition, with categories including the best use of light and best use of merchandise is judged by Wayne Art Center instructors.
