Could Coin Meters Become a Thing of the Past in Radnor?
This summer Radnor Township will consider what it would mean to ditch meters for kiosks.
Yesterday Radnor Patch published a story on a Wayne business owner who says that Radnor Township's ticketing of meters is too aggressive.
During an interview with Bob Zienkowski, Radnor's manager, about the shop owner's claims, he said that the township is looking into getting rid of the meter system and installing kiosks for parking all over the township.
The advantages to switching systems for the township, he said, includes a decrease of maintenance (since one kiosk would replace many meters) and an improvement of the collection process.

It would also keep the township from losing money every time it rains. According to Zienkowski, Radnor is charged for the "wet coins" it takes to its bank, TD Bank, because the wet coins require a machine to dry them before counting them.
For users, the kiosks would be more convenient, Zienkowski said, because they take an array of coins and cards.

To his knowledge, Radnor would be the only municipality in the area to use all kiosks, Philadelphia being the closest other.
