COVID Presence In Delaware County Still Increasing

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — The most recent data from state health officials show the coronavirus's presence is still growing in Delaware County.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, four of the six key coronavirus metrics have increased in the county over the past week.

From Wednesday, May 4 to Wednesday, May 11, new confirmed cases increased from 558 to 726.

Average daily coronavirus specific hospitalizations saw an increase from 15.4 to 16.9.

The county's incidence rate per 100,000 people went from 98.5 to 128.1.

Delaware County's positive testing rate increased from 9.8 percent to 12.7 percent.

Average daily coronavirus patients on ventilators remained the same at 0.

Lastly, the percent of hospital emergency department visits with coronavirus-like illnesses also remained the same at 1.6 percent.

To date, 97,635 cases have been confirmed in Delaware County and 1,875 people have died from the virus.

As for vaccinations, the state reports 362,020 people have been fully vaccinated, 160,661 have gotten one booster shot, 17,073 have received a second booster, and 81,203 are partially vaccinated, state data shows.
