Delco-Set 'Task' Renewed For Season 2 At HBO
The Mark Ruffalo-led crime drama set and shot in Delaware County and other regional areas will return for a second, according to HBO.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — It seems as though Hollywood's spotlight will once again turn toward Delaware County and the Philadelphia region, as HBO's hit series set in Delco is coming back for another season.
"Task," starring Mark Ruffalo, was both set and shot in Delaware County. Created by Berwyn's own Brad Inglesby, the crime drama touts a 96 percent "fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has been lauded by critics.

HBO and HBO Max Content chairman and CEO Casey Bloys Thursday said the show will have a second season.
"On behalf of the entire ‘Task’ team, in front of and behind the camera, I am honored and excited to get back to work on a second season of our show," he said at a New York City event.

It's unclear when production on season two will begin and if it will film locally.
Ruffalo, in season one, was joined by actors Tom Pelphrey as Robbie Prendergrast, Alison Oliver as Elizabeth Stover, Emilia Jones as Maeve Prendergrast, and Martha Plimpton as Kathleen McGinty, among others.
Pelphrey (who grew up about an hour and a half from Delaware County in Howell Township, New Jersey), Jones, and Stover earned local love for their execution of the famously difficult to nail Delco accent.
"We knew well in advance of its launch that we had a powerful drama series on our hands, but it has been so rewarding to witness the audience’s fervor and embrace of this show as it grew week after week," Francesca Orsi, EVP, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films, said. "Rarely does a writer balance humanistic storytelling with intricate, explosive plotting but Brad Ingelsby is one of our industry’s greats and we have no doubt he will strike as profoundly and addictively once again in season two."
Task filmed across the area, having shot on location in Ridley, Aston, Chadds Ford, Edgmont, the Delaware County Courthouse in Media, and Wissahickon Valley Park in Philadelphia.
Ingelsby in 2021 said he was open to a sequel for his hit HBO series "Mare of Easttown," which went on to win three Emmy Awards for its performances: Outstanding Lead Actress for star Kate Winslet, Outstanding Supporting Actress for Julianne Nicholson, and Outstanding Supporting Actor for Evan Peters.
While "Mare" never got a proper second season, Inglesby said he is "honored and excited" to start working on season two of "Task."
"We’ve been incredibly fortunate to have HBO's unwavering support of TASK from the very first script onwards, throughout production, and during their extraordinary launch of our first season to audiences, he said. "They are an unmatched creative home. On behalf of the entire TASK team, in front of and behind the camera, I am honored and excited to get back to work on a second season of our show."
