Eastern University To Buy Part Of Valley Forge Military Academy & College Property
Eastern University and Valley Forge Military Academy & College have entered an agreement for the purchase of 33.3 acres of land.
WAYNE, PA — There's a new development in the saga of Valley Forge Military Academy & College, as it has entered an agreement with a local university to sell a sizable chunk of its property.
The storied Main Line institution is selling a 33.3-acre portion of its property to Eastern University, according to the school.
According to Eastern, the tract of land is less than a mile from the university's campus in St. Davids.

It includes the football stadium, track, and athletic field house that Eastern has been leasing from Valley Forge Military Academy & College since 2021. In addition, if features several apartment buildings, some of which will be used to house the school's expanding on-campus community, along with additional fields, buildings, and pickleball courts.

Completion of the transaction is contingent on various approvals and regulatory requirements as part of the due diligence process, which is expected to be completed over the next five months, officials said.
"We are grateful for the great relationship we have with VFMAC," Dr. Ronald A. Matthews, President of Eastern University, said. "Expanding our campus through this new property is a pivotal step in Eastern University’s growth and vision for a flourishing future. By expanding our residential facilities and securing key athletic facilities that can support our students, we will be able to provide the space for our expanding student body to call Eastern’s campus "home.'"
While Valley Forge Military Academy announced it will close in May 2026, Valley Forge Military College will continue to operate on its main campus.
"Valley Forge Military Academy & College has enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship with our neighbors at Eastern University for many years," VFMAC President Colonel Stuart B. Helgeson, USMC, said. "This agreement will allow both of our institutions and campuses to flourish in the coming years as we each invest in our mission to provide excellent, transformative education to the next generation."
Eastern University enrollment has grown over the past six years, with total enrollment nearing 10,000 students for the fall 2025 semester.
The university said new academic programs and dynamic co- and extracurricular activities, including new NCAA DIII athletic programs and vibrant arts, have fueled the growth.
