Hate-Speech, Anti-Semitism Condemned In Radnor Township

Radnor Township commissioners unanimously voted to condemn anti-Semitism and all other forms of hate.

RADNOR, PA—Radnor Township commissioners Tuesday passed a resolution condemning antisemitism and all forms of hate, including hate based on race, color, religion, origin, sex gender, and disability.

The resolution was passed in the wake of bursts of swastikas signs spray-painted throughout neighboring Tredyffrin Township in March and April.

Several residents thanked the commissioners for their support of the proclamation.

The proclamation urges residents to speak up against hate as it is witnessed.

“When municipalities and residents work together against hate we can against hate we restore respect,” Jones said, thanking the commissioners for their support against antisemitism.

Jones said she encourages everyone to empower themselves to stand up for others.

Commissioner Moira Mulroney, the president, said the community supports the proclamation.

The proclamation also stated Pennsylvania saw a 65 percent increase in antisemitic incidents of assault, vandalism, and harassment in the last year.

The commissioners also encouraged state lawmakers to pass anti-hate bills.

Antisemitism came to the forefront of the Main Line in March when a 15-year-old was arrested as a juvenile for spraypainting racial slurs and swastikas at the Valley Forge Middle School.

Subsequently, on April 21 swastikas were found at Jenkins Arboretum, Forge Mountain, Walter, and Thomas roads, and behind Gateway shopping center.

The Tredyffrin supervisors on May 23 passed a resolution condemning anti-semitism and all other forms of hate.
