K9 Axel Joins The Radnor Crime-Fighting Team
K9 Axel and Officer Rich Braxton received training to patrol and detective explosives.

RADNOR, PA —Radnor Township Police Department is proud to announce its newest addition to the K9 Unit, Officer Rich Braxton and K9 Axel.
Axel is a 2½-year-old Belgian malinois from Hungary. He is a dual-purpose police patrol and explosives K9.
Axel completed 560 hours of patrol school training followed by 400 hours of scent school training at the Philadelphia Police Department Academy.

Axel loves working but in his off time, he enjoys hiking, playing fetch, and laying around relaxing, police shared.

Police Officer Rich Braxton and K9 Axel are ready to fight crime in Radnor.
What does a K9 do?
K-9 police dogs are an essential crime-fighting tool because K9 dogs have a superior sense of smell, which allows the dogs to detect minuscule odors that cannot be detected by humans.
Axel is a 21/2-year-old Belgian malinois from Hungary. He has is a dual-purpose police patrol and explosives K9. Axel completed 400 hours of scent school at the Philadelphia Police Academy.
The Radnor K9 team is comprised of a handler assigned to a specific canine partner.
Other K-9 team members are K9 Onyx assigned to Officer Brett Greaves, who specializes in narcotics; K9 Rocky assigned to Officer Jennifer Cocco, who specializes in explosives; and K9 Urrsi assigned to Officer Ryan Collins.
The K9 teams participate in patrols, safety checks, searches for explosives, missing people, arrests, and searches of fleeing suspects.
