RADNOR, PA — Cabrini University is closing, and the Class of 2024's commencement was the school's final graduation ceremony.

In a bittersweet moment, alumna Kylie Kelce, wife of Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason Kelce, delivered the final undergraduate commencement speech.

Kelce, Class of 2017, was described by the school as a "standout field hockey athlete and coach, and advocate for girls and women in sports,"

"One of the best decisions I've ever made was to become a part of the Cabrini field hockey family," Kelce said. "The experience gave me memories and friendships that will last a lifetime."

After graduation, the Narberth native served in several roles, including head varsity field hockey coach at Lower Merion High School, her alma mater.

Cabrini was founded in 1957 by the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It was originally a college and became a university in 2016.

Since then, the university has struggled with enrollment, which was estimated at 1,600 in 2022 —about 1,000 less than in 2012, according to the state Department of Education data system.

In June, Villanova University reached a final agreement for Villanova to assume ownership of the Cabrini campus after the 2023-24 academic year. Villanova will maintain the Cabrini name for the 112-acre campus, and completion of the transaction is contingent on a number of regulatory and other approvals.
