"Partnering with and serving our neighbors in Delco over the past several years has been an important and impactful arm of our overall operation," George Matysik, executive director of Share Food Program, said. "We are proud to put roots down here for Share Food Program and bring our critical services closer to individuals and families facing hunger so we may serve them for years to come."
Water services provider Aqua Pennsylvania, an Essential Utilities company, served as the project’s lead sponsor, helping to ensure the success of the warehouse launch through a $450,000 donation from the company’s Essential Foundation.
"Aqua is proud to be the lead sponsor for Share’s Delaware County warehouse and operations to increase access to essential resources for the people of Delaware County, which is where our company was founded back in 1886, and where so many of our customers and employees call home," Marc Lucca, president of Aqua Pennsylvania, said. "What Share’s team does every day to help those facing food insecurity is remarkable, and we look forward to working toward a future where everyone has access to nutritious food and safe water."
Delaware County Council has partnered with Share Food Program to manage the charitable food system across the County over the last few years. Today’s warehouse opening in Holmes is a testament to the strength of that partnership.
"Thursday’s opening is an example of what we can accomplish when local government, nonprofits, and the private sector come together," Delaware County Council Chair Dr. Monica Taylor said. "This warehouse is more than a building. It’s a commitment to long-term food security and community resilience."
