PHOTOS: Snow Squalls Take Us By Surprise

The brief storms Friday were described by one meteorologist as "five-minute blizzards."

A series of snow squalls moved through the region Friday, providing brief, blinding experiences as the snow swirled.

“Snow squalls + strong NW winds = swirling snow that looks like a 5 minute blizzard!” CBS3’s Kate Bilo Tweeted Friday afternoon.

  • Tell Us: Did you see one of the snow squalls?

“One minute it looks perfectly fine, you come out of the bathroom and it looks like snowmaggedon hit in seconds,” Twitter user @HeckPhilly Tweeted in response to Bilo.

The squalls were “short-lived bursts but drastically hinder visibility,” Bilo Tweeted.

A Wind Advisory is in place for the region, with the National Weather Service saying we could seek gusts of more than 50 mph.
