Radnor Commissioners Approve Lease for Ardrossan Farm
Residents urged the township to direct the longtime farmer to use organic methods to manage the crops and cattle.

A Radnor family that has farmed land at Ardrossan Farm will continue to do so after the Board of Commissioners approved its license application with a 4-2 vote Monday night, according to Main Line Media.
Before the board’s approval of the lease with Richard Billheim, several residents expressed concerns over Billheim’s use of chemicals to grow his crops. The Delaware Riverkeeper, Maya von Rossum of Radnor, urged the commissioners to require Billheim use organic farming methods.
The farm sits on 71 acres of open space at Ardrossan Farm purchased for $11 million by Radnor Township late last year, according to the Delaware County Daily Times. The remainder of the 311-acre property will be developed into a residential development.
