Radnor Officers to Escort Police Unity Tour

Two motorcycle officers will offer support to more than 200 riders during a 130-mile trek to Washington, D.C.

The Radnor Police Department will provide support to the more than 200 police officers from all over the country expected to ride in the 2015 Police Unity Tour in May, according to Main Line Media News.

For the second consecutive year, two officers will ride along the bicyclists with motorcycles, ensuring vehicular traffic is prepared for the sea of police officers making the 130-mile trek from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C.

Officers Alex Janoski and Ken Piree will travel along the course from May 8 to May 13, with additional support by Officer Nick Laffredo towing a trailer with spare parts in case of emergencies.

The tour began in 1997, with a handful of New Jersey officers that wanted to raise awareness and money for police officers killed in the line of duty and their family members. Since then, participation has spanned the country, with more than 1,200 members of the charity who either take the ride or participate in rider support and closing ceremonies at the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C.
