Radnor Police Capture Rabid Raccoon

More thefts from vehicles were also reported earlier this week.

A raccoon captured in a Radnor neighborhood tested positive for rabies, according to police.

Radnor officers were dispatched to the 200 block of North Aberdeen Avenue on Monday on a report of a raccoon acting strangely, the report says. The animal was captured and euthanized, then sent to the Pennsylvania State Health Lab for testing.

The results show that the raccoon was positive for rabies.

Radnor police also report another string of thefts from vehicles in the overnight hours between Monday and Tuesday. According to police, suspects opened unlocked cars on the 200 block of Willow Avenue and stole cash and change.

The incidents occurred about a mile north of the neighborhoods where similar thefts took place last week. Cash and loose change were stolen from nine unlocked vehicles on the 500 Block of Brookside Avenue, 500 Block of Askin Road and the 300 Block of Orchard Way during the overnight hours between March 22 and 23.

Any residents that may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area or know who committed the crime are asked to contact Radnor Police at (610) 688-0503. Radnor police also reminds all residents not to leave valuables in vehicles and to lock all vehicles when unattended.
