Rosemont College Offers Cabrini Students A Seamless Transfer

RADNOR, PA —Rosemont College President Jim Cawley invited Cabrini University students to a seamless pathway to transfer to neighboring Rosemont following an announcement last week that Cabrini is closing at the end of the 2024 school year.

"The Rosemont community is deeply sorry to hear that our neighbor, Cabrini University, will be closing in 2024," Cawley said. "My thoughts are with the Cabrini students, faculty, staff, and alumni who are directly impacted by this decision.”

Rosemont College, Lower Merion Township, will honor all credits earned by Cabrini students, match Cabrini’s financial package, offer a $2,000 scholarship, and waive an essay requirement.

The college has about 1,200 students in undergraduate and graduate programs

“I want you to know that you have a home at Rosemont,” Cawley said.

Villanova University announced Friday that a tentative agreement has been reached to buy the Cabrini University campus, which will graduate its last class in June 2024.

Villanova, Cabrini, Rosemont, St. Joseph's, and Gwynedd Mercy are all Catholic-based universities.

Cabrini has struggled with enrollment, which was estimated at 1,600 in 2022, about 1,000 less than in 2012, according to the state Department of Education Data system.

Saint Joseph's University, Philadelphia; Immaculata University, East Whiteland Township, Chester County; and Gwynedd Mercy University, Lower Gwynedd Township, Montgomery County, also have websites and transfer days scheduled for Cabrini students.
