State Rep. Hackett Stepping Down to Focus on Police Work
The representative for the 161st District says he wants to return to a life in law enforcement.

State Representative Joe Hackett (R-161) has announced his resignation from the General Assembly in a statement released Thursday night.
Hackett served 26 years in law enforcement prior to his election in 2010. According to the statement, he wants to return to the life of police work.
“Coming from a family of bluebloods — my grandfather, wife, father-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and three nephews — I’ve realized that law enforcement is not just a career, it’s a calling,” the release states.
