Wayne Pizza Shop Among Best Newcomers, Inquirer Says

WAYNE, PA — Pizza, despite being an Italian food, is about as American as baseball and apple pie. And a new list from the Philadelphia Inquirer documents the best new spots for slices and pies in the Philadelphia region.

Inquirer food writer Michael Klein published the list in late December and featured a few Main Line spots on the list.

Among them is the new Wayne location of beloved Bryn Mawr pizza and cheesesteak shop Johnny's. Their new outpost is located at 369 W. Lancaster Ave. in Wayne.

"Having wowed our tasters for The Inquirer’s 76, John Bisceglie has added a Wayne outpost to his bustling Bryn Mawr pizzeria. Located in a strip center near the farmers market, it’s set up mostly for takeout, but there’s a comfy dining room to enjoy unforgettable pies both thick and thin(ish), rectangular and round, red and white," Klein wrote. "We’re particularly fond of the white pies, topped with fresh mozzarella, lemony ricotta, caramelized onions, pecorino-romano, and parsley and baked on a sesame-seed crust."

Classic Pizza has 4.6 stars on Google based on 29 reviews.

"Johnny’s Pizza in Wayne hits the spot whenever you’re craving a good, freshly made pizza," one reviewer wrote. "The crust has that perfect balance of crisp and chew, and they don’t skimp on toppings either."

"I’ve been trying to get this pizza in Bryn Mawr but they were always too busy," someone else said "The hype is real- This is the best pizza in the area. More expensive than others but so worth it. Can’t wait to be back."

"Pizza is incredible, crispy crust, excellent pepperoni that cups," another said.
