"For years, we have dreamed of having our own in-house chef to prepare delicious meals each day using the freshest ingredients," the center said in announcing the gift. "Our annual survey in 2024 showed that having a menu that meets a wide variety of dietary needs and culinary preferences is a very high priority for our members."
The gift will also help launch nutritional counseling, a menu that incorporates the latest science on diet and wellness, and programming such as cooking demonstrations and recipe sharing.

Officials said the center is partnering with The Willows Park Preserve for use of their commercial kitchen under the new program.
"Our hope is to begin the new program sometime this Fall, but we still have a lot of logistics to put in place before that can happen," officials said.
The center thanked the Mariposa Wish Foundation and its president, Wayne Senior Center member Jill Chambers, for the support.
