When Are Local Thrift Shops Closing for the Summer?
Some are having big sales to close out the season.
Most local thrift shops that are manned by volunteers close for the summer.
In Wayne, the Alley Door, which has a new space on Louella Court, closes Saturday, June 22.
Just across Lancaster Avenue, Noah's Ark, the shop run out of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, will also have its final day of sales on June 22. All items in the store will be half-off on Wednesday, June 19, Friday, June 21, and Saturday, June 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The shop is closed Thursdays.

Most of what is not sold is donated to orphanages and organizations from Philadelphia to Russia and Africa, said Maly Bale of St. Mary's.

By contrast, the Bryn Mawr Hospital Thrift Shop is staying open all summer Monday through Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
