Al Pearlman Sports Complex Upgrade Project Breaks Ground

The multi-use complex, which includes four baseball fields and a football field, will be getting a facelift through the Rebuild program.

ROXBOROUGH, PHILADELPHIA — Roxborough's Al Pearlman Sports Complex is getting some upgrades, and work begins Wednesday.

Mayor Jim Kenney, 4th District City Councilmember Curtis Jones, Rebuild Philadelphia, and community members held a groundbreaking ceremony at the facility Wednesday.

The multi-use complex, which includes four baseball fields and a football field, will be getting a facelift through the Rebuild program.

This project is a $1.2 million investment.

The baseball complex will be getting new LED light fixtures on existing light poles, and new metal railings and concrete step improvements to the two staircases leading to the building and the stairs between the A Field and Pony Field outfield.

Field A and B are getting fencing improvements, new infield mix, infield and outfield regrading.

Pony Field is getting a new backstop, new dugout asphalt, new player benches, new infield mix, and regrading of the infield and outfield, which overlaps with the area used for football.

Walter “Bud” Ryan Memorial Field (previously Field C) is having its dugout asphalt replaced.

It will also have standing water areas excavated and recompacted.
