Beer Tasting: There will be a beer tasting at The Foodery on Ridge Avenue in Roxborough on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. 

Thrill Show Tickets: Tickets are still available for the Philadelphia Police Department's annual Thrill Show.  All proceeds from the show go towards scholarships for the children of fallen city police officers and firefighters.

This day in history: On Sept. 19, 1881, U.S. President James A. Garfield dies of wounds suffered in a July 2 shooting.
