The incident had a rippling effect across various communities.

The Elizalde family, the other victims' families, the School District of Philadelphia, Roxborough High School, Cub Scout Pack 332, Boy Scout Troop 300, the Roxborough community, and many more mourned the incident.

But a year out, these communities are continuing to honor the late teenager.

In June, a mural was installed to memorialize Elizalde.

Back in November 2022, the Cub and Boy scout groups Elizalde was involved with planted a tree in his memory.

In October 2022, shortly after the shooting, the school got a $500,000 funding boost to increase security.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts even spent time at Roxborough High School after the shooting.

Now, community members are looking to raise funds to erect a new scoreboard at Roxborough High School, and that scoreboard will also pay tribute to the slain teen.

Funds are being raised through T-shirt and sweatshirt orders, specially designed to honor Elizalde's environmental activism and gentle soul, according to the Roxborough Development Corporation.

In addition to the new scoreboard, funds will go toward new uniforms for the school's football team.

Shirts are $28 and crew neck sweatshirts are $38.

Those who want to contribute to the effort can also donate through GoFundMe.

Additionally, checks can be made out directly to the school and dropped off/or mailed to the Roxborough Development Corporation office at 6120 Ridge Ave. Representatives will deliver these checks to the school.

Checks should be made to Roxborough High School with a note in the memo that reads "Nick’s Scoreboard."

Anyone who wants to pay directly by credit card can contact Roxborough Development Corporation Executive Director Jax Cusack at Jacqueline@roxboroughpa.com.
