Counterfeit Money Being Used Around Roxborough, Group Says
The Roxborough Development Corporation said it was alerted to someone using counterfeit money at area businesses Thursday.
ROXBOROUGH, PHILADELPHIA — The Roxborough Development Corporation is warning local businesses of counterfeit money being used in the area.
The group Thursday said it got reports of counterfeit money being used by a person seen on Main Street.
With the fake money being passed at local businesses, the corporation is encouraging vigilance when handling cash transactions.

Anyone who encounters the person or suspects counterfeit money is being used should not confront the person attempting to pass the money; note details such as the person’s appearance, clothing, direction of travel, and any vehicle used; call 911 immediately to report the incident; and retain the bills is possible and place them in an envelope or plastic bag and avoid handling it further.
The group also advises contacting your local bank to help identify counterfeit currency. Banks may also help with submitting counterfeit bills to the Secret Service.
