Help Beautify Wissahickon Valley Park On Earth Day

Friends of the Wissahickon is inviting you to join its clean-up event on Earth Day. Volunteers will clear brush, collect litter, and more.

PHILADELPHIA — Wissahickon Valley Park is a refuge of nature in the city of Philadelphia.

And the park's stewards are planning a major clean up event to keep the park beautiful on Earth Day.

Friends of the Wissahickon are inviting the public to join them from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 22 to clean areas of the park.

Clean up work will take place at four locations that day: Harvey Street, Ridge Avenue, Historic Rittenhouse Town, and Valley Green.

Volunteers and Friends of the Wissahickon will do trail work, litter cleanup, invasive plant removal, and storm drain cleaning.

No experience is needed to volunteer.

Friends of the Wissahickon will provide gloves, tools, and instructions.

Volunteers should wear sturdy footwear and long pants, and bring a water bottle.
