Snow, Rain, Wintry Mix Hits Philly Area: What To Expect

A wintry mix hit the Philadelphia region early Wednesday. Here's the latest on timing on accumulation estimates.

SOUTHEASTERN PA — Winter weather is back in southeastern Pennsylvania after a brief holiday, as 70-degree days have been followed up by a flurry of rain, snow, and wintry mix on Wednesday.

Accumulation is expected to be limited for much of the region, as less than half an inch is expected to accumulate during the daytime hours on Wednesday in the Philadelphia area. Rain and snow will continue to fall into the evening, but only another tenth of an inch is expected to gather on the ground.

It's expected that precipitation will dissipate before 7 p.m.

What does it mean for driving conditions? Not much, as NWS is expecting limited travel impacts as "snow will not stick to the roads in many locations outside of the higher terrain of the southern Poconos and northwest New Jersey, especially above 1,000 feet."

Rain and snow, possibly mixed with sleet before 2pm, then rain and snow. High near 38. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

A chance of rain, mainly before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Partly sunny, with a high near 51. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy, with a low around 34. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm.
