Renowned Philadelphia Chef Recovering from Spinal Cord Injured on Amtrak Train
Representatives for Eli Kulp said the award-winning chef is slowly healing from his severe injuries from last week's Amtrak derailment.

One of the top chefs in Philadelphia is slowly recovering from severe injuries he sustained as a passenger during the deadly Amtrak derailment last week.
Chef Eli Kulp suffered a severe spinal cord injury when Amtrak Train 188 derailed at the Frankford Junction curve in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia on May 12. Eight people were killed in the accident and more than 200 injured.
His recovery will be long, but Kulp has shown signs of improvement after receiving surgery at Aria Health-Torresdale, a representative from his restaurant company, High Street Hospitality Group, told the Philadelphia Business Journal. He has since been moved to an undisclosed hospital for his rehabilitation.

He was named best new chef by Food & Wine magazine last year, and Bon Appétit magazine has named High Street on Market second-best new restaurant in the country.
