Roxborough Community Plan Earns $20K Grant

A zoning development toolkit created by the Central Roxborough Civic Association will help residents conserve their neighborhoods.

Each Philadelphia neighborhood takes pride in separating its identity from the rest of the city, a reputation that members of the Central Roxborough Civic Association (CRCA) took extra steps to preserve.

The organization’s creation of a zoning map overlay that Philadelphia officials adopted will help prevent the community from losing its unique characteristics. It’s a plan that the CRCA wants to offer its neighbors, and now it has some funding to start expanding.

The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation has named the CRCA’s Neighborhood Conservation Kit a winner of the organization’s Knight Cities Challenge, awarding the project a $20,000 grant. The money will help CRCA develop the project model and make it available for the other 240 registered community organizations.
