Stroll The Street Manayunk Kicks Off June 1 With Art-Themed Events

MANAYUNK, PHILADELPHIA — Main Street Manayunk is getting ready for its weekly summer night event, as Stroll the Street is set to return for its eighth year on June 1.

Stroll the street will be held every Thursday night, June 1 through Aug. 31.

Each night, Main Street Manayunk will come alive with pop-up sidewalk vendors & artists, live music, art demos, and fun activities.

Manayunk retailers and restaurants will also hold in-store shopping events and cocktail and appetizer specials throughout the season.

June, July, and August each have a theme for this year's Stroll the Street.

June is art month, July is music month, and August is pet month.

With June being themed art month, Stroll the Street’s Plein on Main, presented by Orbit Art Gallery and The Look Listen, is the perfect kick-off to the event series.

Taking place June 1st from noon to 7 p.m., participating artists will paint scenes of historic Main Street Manayunk (Leverington Avenue to Shurs Lane) as they compete for the $1,000 grand prize.

All painting will take place in the natural elements, and we invite visitors to come and stroll the street as the artists bring their work to life.

Prizes will also be awarded for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th place, and awards will be determined by the Plein on Main jury featuring Jonathan D Pinkett, Diane E. Vaughn, and Janine Gasarowski. Artwork will be available for purchase during the event.

The rain date for Plein on Main is noon to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 8.

Then, following weeks will have their own themes.

June 8 will be Free Paint + Movie Night.

Manayunk will be hosting a free paint night on Cotton Street, where guests can stop by, grab a canvas, and let the creativity take you.

A movie showing will take place after the free paint.

New to this year is the MNYK Artbox, which will feature interactive art demos and performances all summer long.

Week three on June 15 is Artbox Demo: Tuft the World.

Tuft the World will be taking the stage with their community tufting project. They'll be demoing and inviting guests to participate as well.

WEEK 4: June 22nd

Then on June 22, the night's theme will be "Artbox Demo - Birdwatchers Studio."

Max Gordon of Birdwatchers Studio will take on the MNYK Artbox with an interactive screen-printing demo and experience.

June 29 will mark Family Fun Night.

Guests can enjoy caricatures, face painting, crafts, and more on Cotton Street.
