5 Things to Know This Week

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around the community.

1. Easter Monday

Local schools remain closed today, but the weather is expected to be brisk. The National Weather Service is calling for a chance of rain and snow showers before 11 a.m., then a chance of rain showers for the Sewickley area with a high near 40. The Sewickley Valley YMCA and the Sewickley Public Library will be open. No programs, however, are scheduled today at the library.

2. Route 65 Roadwork

PennDOT plans to resume Route 65 improvements from Chestnut Street in Sewickley to the Beaver County line. The work will take place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and one lane will be open in each direction as needed.

3. 'Coffee with Keith'

U.S. Rep. Keith Rothfus, R-Sewickley, is inviting constituents to meet up with him for coffee and conversation at locations in Ambridge, Ellwood City, and Johnstown. The first “Coffee with Keith” event will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 at the Maple Restaurant in Ambridge.

4. Landscaping for Curb Appeal

Are you interested in learning how to add value and curb appeal to your home through landscaping? The Sewickley Public Library is offering an information session presented by Evan Evanovich, an area landscape expert for more than 25 years. Register here for the free adult program.

5. Downton Abbey

Are you curious what the big deal is about this show called Downton Abbey?  Catch up at the Sewickley Library every Friday starting with Season 1, Episode 1 on Friday, April 5. On the last Friday of the month (April 26) there will be an English Tea spread and a discussion following that episode's viewing. No registration is needed.
