Input/output looks at the cutting edge of how contemporary artists are utilizing the medium of games to present interactive works of art that explore issues of immigration, war, women’s rights, life and death. These artistic games highlight how a didactic message is understood through play.
The artists represent a broad range of approaches to game making that will be presented in a variety of formats, from the familiar board game format to the computer, and projection to mobile application. They will also be paired with early game classics such as Frogger, Tank and Battleship, that highlight the lasting appeal of these early games that built an audience and brought about a revolution in electronic arts through play.
Featured artists include: Rafael Fajardo, Francisco Ortega-Grimaldo and Devin Monnens
