Fourteen New Restaurants in Allegheny County

There were ten restaurants, a bakery, two retailers and a church social hall. Seven establishments are using trans-fat free cooking oil.

The Allegheny County Health Department today reported that fourteen new food establishments opened in the County in September. There were ten restaurants, a bakery, two retailers and a church social hall.

“The Health Department’s monthly report highlights the new restaurants that use trans-fat free cooking oils. Seven of the ten eateries that opened last month cook with these healthier oils,” said Health Director Dr. Karen Hacker.

The establishments using trans-fat free cooking oils are:

  • BnDz 663 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon;
  • The Cancer Institute Cafe, 320 North East Avenue, North Side;
  • Big Guy’s Pizza & Pasta, 1914 Brownsville Road, Carrick
  • Calvary United Church of Christ, 125 Shaw Avenue, Turtle Creek
  • Del’s 80’s Café, 807 Glass Run Road, Baldwin Borough;
  • Nobby’s Pizzeria, 1106 Castle Shannon Boulevard, Castle Shannon
  • Steel Cactus, 1831 East Carson Street, Southside.

Other new restaurants include:

  • New York Original Hero’s & Italian Ice, 4500 Ohio River Boulevard, Bellevue;
  • Life Is Sweet, 1105 Bower Hill Road, Mt. Lebanon;
  • Pizza DeCasa, 101 Fern Hollow Road, Moon;
  • Casa Nayarit Mexican Grill, 2930 South Park Road, Bethel Park.
