Evans City police said the station's K-9 officer, Sgt. Don Myers, was called to the scene with his dog.

Ross police say it all began with a robbery at the Fidelity Bank, 1009 Perry Highway. Officers were still interviewing bank employees late Wednesday afternoon, and could not say if the suspects were armed.

The crash backed up traffic for several miles on northbound I-79.

Patch reader Karin Trauman reported seeing at least a dozen response vehicles from many local municipalities, including Ross, Ohio Township, Franklin Park, state patrol and the DEA on I-79. Two helicopters also were hovering above the area, she said.

All lanes are back open again.
