$130K Stolen From Delco Youth Club, Treasurer Charged: Reports

The former treasurer of the Springfield Youth Club is accused of using the club's funds on tickets, Amazon purchases, airfare, and more.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — A Springfield woman has been hit with several felony charges after authorities said she stole tens of thousands of dollars from an organization where she served as treasurer.

Kathleen Hammond, 54, of Springfield, was charged Wednesday with theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, receiving stolen property, and related crimes, all felonies.

According to the Delaware County Daily Times, Hammond was the treasurer of the Springfield Youth Club, a nonprofit, from 2018 up until she was let go following the accusations.

Authorities allege she stole $136,000 of the group's funds.

Action News reports Hammond used those funds on Eagles season and Billy Joel concert tickets, airfare, Amazon purchases, and more.

According to Fox 29, Hammond admitted to taking the funds, but said she was putting the money back into the group's coffers.

She was released on non-monetary bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on March 28, court records show.
