Burglary, Forgery, Drugs, Theft, More: Springfield Crime Blotter

A man was charged with burglary after police said he was stealing from registers in the Olde Sproul Shopping Center early Monday morning.

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Oct. 31 and Nov. 6.

Oct. 31 at 4:01 p.m.
Officers were called to the Citadel Credit Union, 900 block of West Sproul Road, for a report of a male subject attempting to withdraw money from an account and using a fake identification card. They located the male who had completed a withdrawal slip and presented a fake PA identification card with the account holder’s name. John Kallaur, 49, of Brooklyn, New York, was arrested and charged with Forgery and related offenses. He was held for arraignment.

Oct. 31 at 5:32 p.m.
Officers located an unconscious male in the driver seat of a running vehicle stopped on Leamy Avenue at Prospect Road. Just prior to forcing entry, the male awoke and opened the door. He was found to be intoxicated and taken into custody. The 42-year-old from Morton refused a blood test. Charges for DUI will be filed.

Nov. 3 at 4:24 hrs.
Officers responded to an alarm activation at a business on the 600 block of Baltimore Pike. As they entered the property, they observed a male walking away from the building carrying a tool bag. The male was in possession of drug paraphernalia used to inject heroin and was taken into custody. The business did not appear to have been burglarized. A 42-year-old Philadelphia man was charged with drug offenses and held for arraignment.

Nov. 3 at 2:05 p.m.
A 42-year-old female from Springfield will be charged with Retail Theft after
security at Target, 800 block of Baltimore Pike, observed her steal close to $120 worth of beauty products. Target reported the female has been involved in multiple other thefts from the store.

Nov. 4 at 8:27 p.m.
Two juvenile males from Upper Darby will be charged with Retail Theft after Macy’s security at the mall reported they had stolen close to $400 worth of clothing a fled the store. Officers located the two on the 200 block of West Sproul Road and recovered the merchandise. Both were taken into custody and turned over to family.

Nov. 5 at 12:37 a.m.
Officers responded to the 200 block of Wells Lane for a theft attempt. A resident reported observing two subjects inside his vehicle stealing cash. When he questioned them, they fled along with three others in a vehicle. Surrounding police jurisdictions followed the vehicle west on Baltimore Pike, which fled at a high rate of speed towards Media. Two other vehicles on the street were entered, but nothing taken.

Nov. 5 at 4:44 a.m.
A business on the 100 block of Saxer Avenue had its front door smashed. It did not appear entry inside was gained.

Nov. 5 at 10:05 p.m.
Officers investigated a crash on State Road at Rolling Road and found a driver intoxicated. The driver, a 71-year-old male from Drexel Hill, was taken into custody and submitted to a blood test. He was later released, and charges for DUI and traffic offenses will be filed.

Nov. 6 at 1:50 a.m.
Officers responded to a business in the Olde Sproul Shopping Center for a report of a male inside stealing from cash registers. As officers were arriving, the male walked out the front door and fled through the parking lot before being apprehended. He was in possession of cash stolen from the business as well as drugs and drug paraphernalia. Charles Courtney, 29, was charged with Burglary and drug offenses and held for arraignment.
